TRIP INFORMATION
Passport and Visa
To enter Norway, you will need a passport which must be valid for at least three months longer than the date you plan to leave. Customs will require three complete pages in your passport for processing your entrance and return. Please ensure your passport has adequate pages. US citizens do not need a visa if the visit is less than 90 days.
We recommend that you make photocopies of your passport. Be sure to leave one copy at home with family members and carry one copy in your purse and/or luggage. If your passport is lost or stolen, this will make the re-issuing of your passport much easier. We would also like you to scan your passport and upload it to your registration record or email a copy to the Yamaha Concierge at yamahaconcierge@yamahabestinclass.com. This will help expedite your check-in process when you arrive at the hotel.
Electricity
In Norway, the power plug sockets are European 2 pin. The standard voltage is 220/230V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz.
Currency
The accepted currency is the Krone (NOK) in Norway. Visa is the preferred credit card in Norway. Few shops accept AMEX.
Cellular Phone Service
US cellular phones will work while in Norway but roaming fees will apply. Prior to arriving, contact your cell phone provider to add an international plan or ask what international rates will apply. We recommend downloading the complimentary app WhatsApp which allows guests to text and make calls with Wi-Fi or data.
Security
Security should not be an issue if you stay with the Yamaha group. We STRONGLY suggest that you leave all valuables, including expensive watches and jewelry, at home. There will be an in-room safe at the Bergen Børs, and you should keep your passport in the safe during your stay.
Tipping
Gratuities for all Yamaha-hosted events, including hotel, are included in the program. However, if you are traveling in Norway on your own, the rule of thumb is 10%.
Languages
Norway’s official language is Norwegian, but you will find that most shopkeepers and restaurant owners speak English.
Weather
The average temperatures in early September fall between 48°F and 57°F. We recommend you pack layers, along with a warm waterproof jacket. Sunrise is around 6:30am and sunset is around 8:42pm.
Attire
The attire for the BIC program is warm & comfy casual. Click on attire examples on the agenda tab for additional clothing insight.
Yamaha Concierge
The Yamaha Concierge will be available to assist you on the trip each day at the hospitality desk from 7:00am - 7:00pm. Please ask them any questions regarding your itinerary or scheduled events.
